Wyatt’s bedtime has been getting increasingly later and later all Summer long. Mom and Dad have not adjusted well to it and are extremely hopeful that once it starts to get darker out sooner that order will be restored to the universe ;)
WALKING
I called it. I knew once this kid started walking he would be unstoppable, and he is. He is everywhere. All of the time. I have a new exercise routine and it’s called “Wyatt Graham Blanton” you should try it. It will kick your butt.
In all seriousness, he’s doing extremely well at walking. He’s gained so much confidence in himself in the past few weeks. As a parent it’s a joy to watch him explore and see those “wheels turn”.
SPEECH
EATING
Meals: 3 meals, 3 snacks (at least). Last month, this kid became an EATER! As I’ve mentioned before, he’s never been picky, just never eaten very much at all. That sure has changed! Not only does he eat everything but he seems to want a ton of it. Somedays it seriously seems like he’s just always eating.
FAVORITE FOODS
Grapes, strawberries, sweet potato fries, granola, crackers, smoothies, mac and cheese, pizza, cherries, popcorn
NURSING
This past month was strange. As mentioned previously, he was down to nursing 3 times a day. Then this month he all of a sudden started back up with 4-5 times a day for a couple of weeks. And then just as suddenly he was down to 2 times a day. And sometimes just once a day on the days I work at the office. Pretty cool huh? There are still some days where he asks to nurse, literally points at my chest and says very shortly “Nur!”, and I can tell he’s really only asking because he’s tired. So I push him. And get him to eat or drink something else or rock him to sleep. But he’s honestly taken very little pushing and he continues to basically wean himself. He’s really making this too easy.
PARENTING
The more and more that Wyatt’s personality emerges the more and more Nick and I as parents become more concrete in our parenting/disciplining capabilities. He’s such a smart kid and really knows when you mean something you say. With him, its easy to know when to be stern and correct and when the kid just needs a hug.
Wyatt,
You are just the most awesome kid. You have the BEST smile. I love when I say to you “Hey gorgeous!” and you say “hey goregous (eh gah-jeh)” back. The same goes for when I say “hey baby”. You have the same uncanny ability as your Dad to make me want to pull my hair out, but make my heart melt 2 seconds later. You have a great sense of humor and your baby cackle? Oh your baby cackle. The best medicine there ever was. I love how much you love life.
Lately when you fall asleep on my chest I just stare at you and can’t believe that soon you’ll be a big brother. And that we are so blessed to get another baby in our life. You are going to be a great big brother, but you are already the best son a mommy and daddy could ever ask for. I hope you always have the spunk and the passion you have now.
Love,
Mama
