You know the term rally?
As in to: re-group, come together and pull through?
Well it’s taken me almost 3 years as a mom to really identify and harness the rallying power of the: dance party.
That’s right! Three years! Maybe it’s because I’ve never executed it thoughtfully enough, maybe my attempts at a full blown dance party to The Itsy-Bitsy Spider were merely half-hearted, maybe my kids have just finally reached the age at which they just get it. I dunno. BUT, I do know that if and when I bust out Thunderstruck by Steve’n’Seagulls, be it 3pm, 12pm, heck even 10 am — my kids will rock.
They will rock, I will jam and it will all cue insane laughter from everyone. And I must say, the affect? Well it’s something akin to magic. :)
Call me crazy, but well styled overalls (for me) seem to have similar mood altering, rallying powers. I mean, when I put them on, I just feel like me — both the me I think I am and the me I want to be, if that’s possible.
I haven’t found many pieces in my closet that don’t work with these babies — my utility jacket being one of them oddly enough. I’ve styled them before (see here) and for me they really showcase themselves when paired with an ankle bootie with just a little bit of a heel. The walkable yet feminine heel balances out the tomboy and relaxed nature of the overalls to create an overall put together yet approachable + casual aesthetic. Or, in word: perfection.
Have no fear, I have more ideas as to how to style these throughout my ‘retail recess’ (get caught up here) and you will definitely be seeing more of them around here. :)
