10 x 10 Spring Challenge: Pieces

Today I’m officially throwing my hat into the ring — because a competitive natured metaphor is totally appropriate here (?) — and sharing with you 10 pieces I will be using to curate 10 unique looks. I’ll be joining not only Lee in this challenge, but with her, two of my favorite style bloggers:  Andrea + Paige.  Mad props to you bossbabes!

How it works: Since I’m a little late to the party (ahem, always late Laura…always.) I will be sporting these pieces over the course of the next two “work weeks”(starting this Monday) and sharing with you ALL of the looks I’ve put together late next week — mid way through the challenge.

Tops, jackets, bottoms and shoes all count toward the 10 piece total.  Accessories like: bags, hats, scarves and jewelry are fair game. ;)

Goals for this challenge: I really just want to test my creativity + refocus my thoughts and energies on creative efforts.  Moreover, I decided on two “work weeks” not because I was trying to give myself a two day hiatus (hello weekend!), but to really challenge myself by having to create FOUR different work looks since I still work in an office setting two days a week. Other implementations could have alleviated me from having to combine work pieces with my momiform so many times… Here’s hoping I’ll come away with a couple of bonus outfits and am able to squeeze out two more looks during that ‘hiatus’ weekend. ;)

Let’s do this!Use just 10 pieces to create 10 unique looks via thelovelylauralife.com

Definitely! I’d like to think these are the things we are meant to be impulsive in doing…? And, BAhahahaha!

I love the color palette you put together! I also love that you’re going to actually wear the 10 looks in real life. I am focusing on work weeks also. That gives me a focus for my items, but also gives me the weekends to do laundry and get everything ready to wear again.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks Paige! I love your realistic + practical approach to this challenge, and look forward to seeing more of the looks you pulled together with your pieces.

I must admit I am a little troubled over the laundry aspect because I am currently without a washer/dryer… eek! Haha. :)

I’m very disappointed that it has taken me this long to stumble across your blog. I love the vibe, it really feels like we could be friends (must be in the name).

I stumbled across Caroline’s blog (un-fancy) this time last year and took the plunge and started a capsule wardrobe. Working at Myer (an Australian department store) I find it very challenging (but as a Uni student more realistic) the constant bombardment of advertising and access to quality (not always ethical) garments at heavily discounted prices makes for some serious self control.

I love the idea of being a conscious consumer and find having a capsule wardrobe helps to keep me in check while I am faced with the constant glamour of the fashion industry (Jenifer Hawkins please stop making me want to buy 5 of everything you model).

Although it is Autum here in Aus I am very tempted to attempt the 10×10 Challenge. I think it would be interesting, especially being a full time student, SAO and a Sales Assitance all in the one week.

Thank you for an inspiring read and food for thought. Keep the awesome posts coming.

Hi Laura, I like your pieces for the outfit challenge. Thank you for the link to Andrea and Paige. I was unfamiliar with their blogs. Love their style. I wonder which blogs you follow. Can you do a post on that?

Problem! And yes! I was just contemplating doing that, so now I will do it soon! :) Maybe even bring back the “blog roll” ;)

I could not handle having cardigans, layering pieces, and jackets in the count. But I have been doing a something similar, the 6 Item Challenge. You pick 6 base items to mix and match. I went with 3 tees, 3 pants. It has been an amazing experience and has helped me appreciate my capsule wardrobe journey more.
