I’ve always loved sprucing up the place a bit and bringing some festive cheer to the decor throughout any holiday. But I’ve also always had a little trouble getting on board with most of the traditional holiday colors. In fact I’m not really a fan of any straight ROY G BIV colors in any circumstance. Except for when they appear in an actual rainbow, they’re not really all that natural are they? Fall colors aren’t red, orange and yellow. They are more of rustic reds, burnt oranges, golden yellows, ashy greys, and rich browns. Right?
I enjoy, instead, using natural elements with neutral tones for the holidays that mesh with our overall decor and tastes. I find that it better suites my aesthetic desires, but also allows me to get more mileage with less (also know as “Laura is cheap”). Instead of having to overall our house with a ton of cutesy seasonal decor in order to make it full of festiveness — I can simply add a few touches to each room. It works to blend in enough so that additions don’t distract and overpower, but add some true seasonal warmth to each room.
