We all have a code we live by. Things we do simply because of principle. Right?
Not setting foot in a store on a holiday is, for me, one of those things. Despite my desires to avoid store bought food and always make things myself, I especially don’t like showing my face in a retail setting on a holiday because my better judgement says that nobody should be there. Nobody.
I know I’m not alone in this mindset — in fact I’m quite certain I have this opinion because of the way I was raised. But I also know that I’m not alone when I say:
Sometimes you’re going to break your own rules.
And although we don’t like it when that happens — it’s okay to let yourself of the hook now and again.
Easter Sunday was one of those days for me. We were within the hour of needing to leave for a family lunch. I was a disheveled mess, my hair on day 5 of being unwashed, Thurser still needed fed, the diaper bag needed packed, and the deviled eggs needed making. Like, I hadn’t even boiled the eggs… #fail
Something had to give. And this time I really didn’t want it to be me.
We picked up three dozen deviled eggs at the grocery store on our way to lunch.
It’s not the way I normally do things, but I made sure I said Happy Easter to everyone I encountered ;)
I bet you’re probably wondering what this has to do with the outfit I’m wearing? Nothing, I think, except it’s what I was wearing on Sunday, haha.
But while we’re on the topic of rules, are there any “rules” out there about putting together a postpartum outfit? Because if there are I’ve never heard any of them. A button down top and skirt are my go to “dressy” postpartum outfit for sure — but obviously are a great combo despite whether or not you’re post bump ;)
Happy Belated Easter! #heisrisen
P.S. Don’t volunteer to make three dozen eggs for Easter when you have a 21 month old and 2 1/2 week old at home AND you have an all day Easter event the day before Easter — especially if your mom offers to make them for you at least seven times… ;)
